Blood Pressure Problem

NATUROPATHIC CASE STUDY: BLOOD PRESSURE

Jack, a 35 year old, presented with a slightly elevated blood pressure due his stressful position as a technical director.

Some key nutrients that are well researched for their effects on improving

Cardiovascular health:

*Magnesium: Magnesium is necessary for the health of your muscles and nervous system.  Magnesium helps the blood vessels muscle cells to relax – the more relaxed they are, the lower your blood pressure will be! The best magnesium is diglycinate form which is very well tolerated and well absorbed.

*Taurine: Taurine is another nutrient that will help maintain healthy blood pressure. It works together with magnesium to support the health of the heart and cardiovascular system. It also has a positive effect on the nervous system, and will assist if your blood pressure goes up when you are stressed.

*Fish oil: Essential fatty acids from fish will improve the circulation and will assist in maintaining healthy cholesterol levels. It is also important to ensure the fish oil supplement is free from heavy metals and other contaminants.

*Arginine, Folate, B12, B6, Trimethylglycine: The combination of these nutrients will assist with the production of nitric oxide. Nitric oxide helps to maintain healthy blood pressure. These nutrients will  prevent producing high levels of a substance called homocysteine. A build up of homocysteine has been linked to an increased risk of cardiovascular disease.

An herbal formula to relax and support the nervous system made of skullcap, lemon balm, passion flower and whitania in 500ml of water to sip during the day in his water bottle.

Jack was taking his blood pressure everyday at the same time and noticed a big difference in his readings after 2 weeks. He maintained the protocol for eight weeks and gradually reduced the dosage and frequency. Three months later, his blood pressure was back to normal and he was very happy with the results.
